Multilingual WordPress with qTranslate

December 5th, 2010

By creating this blog I would like it to be multilingual. So I’ve installed the qTranslate plugin and I’ve found that it works very well. In the panel for content management there are extra fields for entering text in other languages. This applies to the entire contents: posts, pages, categories and tags. If somewhere there is only one field, you can use special tags to split text in different languages. This last feature is especially useful when editing templates.

You can switch between languages with a small widget on site. Similar feature is in the administration panel. Each translation has its own URL, so it has a positive effect on SEO.

The plugin is compatible with WordPress 3.0.2.
